Rainbow Calsilica cabochon, 26X25.5mm drop
This stone is 6mm thick and an approximate weight of 21.5cts. A nice shiny polish on front, sides, and back. It should also be noted that this material has many little pinholes.
Rainbow Calsilica from Mexico,
first introduced as a natural stone with the mine source somewhere in Mexico. However I purchased this rough with the understanding that it is not a natural stone but the by-product from a tile factory. As they cut brightly colored tiles all day, the colorful slurry runs into a drain pond where over time it builds up colorful layer by layer and actually hardens into a "stone". This stone has been stabilized using pressure, heat, and polymers, as all rainbow calsilica has.
